Why didn't my PDF get smaller?
If a PDF is mostly text (no large embedded images), there's often very little left to compress — you'll see "already optimized" and get your original file back unchanged, never a bigger one.
Is this a real compressor or just a re-save?
When the server has Ghostscript installed, compression genuinely re-encodes and downsamples embedded images for a real size reduction. Without it, a lighter fallback still strips unnecessary metadata.
